The links attached above tackle the quality and safety aspects or risk management in the histopathology laboratory.
From the articles, I learned that in risk management, the first step is to identify all the hazards in the laboratory. It is also not just the responsibility of the person performing the laboratory procedures, but of everyone, including but not limited to the risk manager and laboratory director. By using safety precautions and examining the quality of each reagent, everyone has a duty to reduce the risk involved in routine activity.
Every laboratory must have a written program outlining the policies, practices, and responsibilities. A system for reporting all incidents and accidents, regardless of how minor or serious they are, should be developed by the risk manager. General laboratory safety precautions must always be followed when working in the laboratory.
