GE 10 – DD🏬 BUILDINGS IN SILLIMAN UNIVERSITY
📍 ARINIEGO ART GALLERYThe 9th Horace B. Silliman Art Exhibit was launched by the Department of Fine Arts at the College of Visual and Performing Arts in the newly established Dr. Romeo P. Ariniego Art Gallery on February 4. Accessible to the public, this display features installation artworks, paintings, and drawings crafted by Fine Arts students ranging from the first to the fourth year levels. Beyond providing a platform for students to showcase their creations, the exhibit serves as an avenue for them to engage with art enthusiasts and potential buyers. A dedicated section of the gallery highlights paintings from the personal compilation of Dr. Ariniego, a distinguished cardiologist and an Outstanding Sillimanian. This collection includes pieces by well-known Filipino artists such as H.R. Ocampo, Solomon Saprid, Jose T. Joya, Ernie Verroya, and Emmanuel Garibay. Running until February 9, the exhibit also signifies the soft opening of the Art Gallery, which was officially inaugurated in August the previous year during the celebration of Silliman University’s Founders Day. The event commemorates the legacy of Dr. Horace Brinsmade Silliman, a philanthropist from Cohoes, New York, who initially donated $10,000 to establish what was then recognized as Silliman Institute on August 28, 1901.
