    🏬 BUILDINGS IN SILLIMAN UNIVERSITY
    📍 HIBBARD HALL

Hibbard Hall, currently housing the Anthropology Museum, serves as a powerful symbol of Silliman University’s profound history and collaborative ethos. It is named after the university’s inaugural president, Dr. David S. Hibbard, and his wife, Laura C. Hibbard, who notably served as the first faculty member. The building’s inception traces back to the visionary “Greater Silliman Fund” project initiated by Dr. Paul Doltz, aimed at securing financial resources for establishing an endowment fund and constructing vital campus infrastructure.

In 1932, the first floor was laid, marking the initial steps in the construction process. Over the subsequent nine years, a remarkable joint effort involving students, faculty, and staff culminated in the completion of the second floor in 1941, now renowned as the Anthropology Museum. This collaborative journey not only resulted in a physical edifice but also embodies the university’s profound commitment to unity and resilience, emphasizing its dedication to preserving heritage and promoting educational distinction. Hibbard Hall, steeped in this legacy of collective endeavor, proudly stands as a testament to Silliman University’s enduring dedication to community and advancement.
