    The sequencing and coordination of tasks, activities, and information flow within the clinical laboratory is referred to as workflow. It includes the transportation of materials, information, and resources through the operational stages of the laboratory.

    Procedures are precise, step-by-step instructions or recommendations that define how specific tasks or processes in the clinical laboratory are carried out. They give detailed instructions on how to carry out tasks, assuring uniformity, standardization, and adherence to established norms.

    Consequently, policies define the broad concepts and norms, processes define the order and coordination of actions, and procedures provide comprehensive instructions for conducting specific tasks or processes inside the clinical laboratory. These components work together to guarantee that laboratory activities are efficient and uniform.
