The integumentary system’s primary function is to protect the inside of the body from environmental elements such as bacteria, pollution, and UV rays from the sun.The skin and its associated structures also help to keep bodily fluids in place, eliminate waste, and keep the body’s temperature in check. The integumentary system collaborates with all other bodily systems, including the nervous, cardiovascular, and digestive systems, to carry out all of its functions in maintaining the internal body’s stability.
