There are four major tissue types: epithelial, connective, muscular, and nerve. Epithelial tissue provides covering and protection. Connective tissue supports other tissues and binds them together. Muscle tissue is responsible for movement, and nervous tissue sends signals and messages to and from the body. Each is meant to perform a specific role that allows the body to function.
