MT30 CD: Histology 4 years ago For some reason, I am fascinated with the Integumentary System. In this system, it’s not only the skin that’s involved. Rather, it is a self-healing protective layer that shields your inside organs. When anything or someone touches you, your touch sensors let you know. In addition, it has sweat glands that assist keep the body temperature in check. It isn’t just a “shield,” as most people think. We couldn’t determine whether we walked on something or struck something since we couldn’t detect if we did. You wouldn’t be able to feel anything if it weren’t for your integumentary system. The fingerprints of every individual are integumentary. Our bodies rely heavily on the integumentary system. It keeps functioning even when you are not working.
