MT30 (LEC) – AAWhy is Histology important?
Histology is a significant field of study because it enables us to learn about how cells are structured and how their arrangements are related to the functions of different vital organs in the human body. It brings us to a world where we can experience a deeper learning process of understanding the smallest unit of life and its biggest role in all biological mechanisms. Histology also plays a crucial part in biomedical science, particularly in the identification and diagnosis of illnesses. In this line of study, we are provided with knowledge regarding the abnormal development of tissues that contributes to health deterioration, which helps physicians in deciding on the appropriate and most effective treatment and management control to administer. Furthermore, histology extends its purpose into forensics wherein tissue biopsies are prepared for the investigation of one’s cause of death. Indeed, histology’s importance lies in its integration into many scientific disciplines, which allied health students and medical practitioners, or even every individual if possible, should appreciate.
