MT30 – BB (LEC) 5 months, 3 weeks ago My art is based on my experience in Track and Field, specifically the moment of intense physical exertion during a sprint. I chose to represent the Biceps Femoris (Skeletal Muscle), as for me, this was the specific tissue that worked the hardest and often felt sore during my training. My artwork uses the microscopic anatomy of this muscle by transforming the long, cylindrical skeletal muscle fibers into the parallel lanes of a running track. The characteristic striations (A and I bands) are depicted as the white lane markings, while the peripheral nuclei are shown as the oval structures located at the edges of the fibers. Additionally, the perimysium is represented as the boundaries that bundle these lanes together, showing how the cellular structure of my hamstrings powered my movement throughout the Intramurals.
