This video has been quite informative in learning about the Philippine Health System as it gives everyone an idea of what it’s like. After watching the video, I’ve come to a realization that since our public hospitals are not at the same par as majority of the private hospitals we have in the country, it is still most likely that people would have greater chances of survival in private hospitals than the former. However, this does not go for all public hospitals as some were able to really get to be at the same level as the private hospitals and even better but for rural public hospitals, a lot has to be improved. The government, while integrating in the universal health care law, should also find ways on improving the public rural hospitals and create a system that also ensures that the medical staff gets to be paid and treated better to avoid having them leave the hospital. Push factors should really be lessened. Lastly, I believe that the Philippine’s government owned insurance company, PhilHealth, has indeed been a big help to the majority of the Filipinos. Thus, as an insurance company where the majority of the countrymen choose to avail, the government must also find ways to strictly ensure that corruption does not occur and ghost patients are resolved.
