Did you know GMOs are not only limited to foods?GMOs isn’t limited to crops, it also has lots of uses, it is everywhere and is saving lives every day through GMO technology.
GMOs can be found in some medicines that can prolong and save patient’s lives. For example, the insulin used to regulate diabetes came from the pancreas of pigs, cows, and sheep.
Additionally, many types of cancer, particularly the brain, colorectal, as well as cervical cancer, have been widely administered with Avastin bevacizumab, which is a breakthrough of the GMO technology.
Numerous patients with cancer often endure and struggle from anemia caused by chemotherapy or radiation. Such individuals, as well as other patients suffering from anemia, have been frequently medicated with epoetin alfa. Epoetin alfa is a hormone created by genetic manipulation which really enhances the development of the erythrocytes. In the meantime, GMO-based vaccines prevent many other diseases, including hepatitis A and B, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), and polio. GMO vaccines are under development to fight cholera, malaria, and many other diseases for which non-GMO methods have proven to be ineffective.
Similarly, many of our most common vitamins are manufactured using GMO techniques that allow us to manufacture them at much higher quantities and at lower costs than our older methods, which used to involve extracting them from animal organs. By fermenting GMO microbes, riboflavin (B-2), vitamin B-12, vitamin C, and vitamin E are all produced.
Finally, there are also some detergents that have been developed to eliminate different forms of stains which had helped the environment and the public. These detergents have been combined with enzymes that are claimed to be either genetically modified or collected from GMO microbes which have been fed with sugars derived from other GMOs.
