Coronary artery disease happens when the arteries get blocked and results to decrease a blood flow to the heart. Coronary artery disease can be caused by diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, and genetics. To manage this, doctors can do cardiac catheterization to check the condition of the artery and they will decide what to do to widen the blockage in the artery. The doctor in the video mentioned the installing of balloons or stents to big arteries, prescribing medicines to people who have CAD in smaller blood vessels, and doing bypass surgery to people who have blood vessel blockage in certain areas.
