The circulatory system refers to the network working inside your body that moves blood throughout the body to ensure that the body’s tissues are provided with sufficient nutrients and oxygen. It is also termed as the cardiovascular system which pertains to the different components that make up the system. It is composed of the heart, which pumps the blood, and the blood vessels such as the arteries, which carry oxygenated blood flow to the tissues and organs all across the body, and the veins, which carry the deoxygenated blood back to the heart. This constantly ongoing process which oxygenates and removes waste from our tissues is a cycle, hence the term ‘circulatory’ because of how blood is circulated all around.
