Reflections on SU Motto

Silliman University’s motto, “Via, Veritas, Vita” (The Way, the Truth, and the Life), is a profound and inspiring statement that has guided the university’s community for over a century. It is a reminder that our lives have meaning and purpose, and that we are called to live in a way that is true to ourselves, to others, and to God.

As a student at Silliman University, I am committed to living out the values of Via, Veritas, Vita. This means striving to be the best version of myself, to pursue knowledge and truth, and to live a life of service to others.

In my college life, Via, Veritas, Vita impacts my direction in the following ways:

Via: I am guided by the belief that there is a way to live that is both meaningful and fulfilling. I strive to make choices that are aligned with my values and that will lead me to a life of purpose.
Veritas: I am committed to pursuing knowledge and truth. I believe that education is essential for personal growth and social transformation. I strive to be open-minded and to learn from others.
Vita: I believe that life is a gift and that we should cherish every moment. I am committed to living a life of joy and compassion. I strive to make a difference in the world and to leave it a better place than I found it.
Silliman University’s motto has had a profound impact on my direction in college life. It has helped me to define my values and to set goals for myself. It has also challenged me to grow as a person and to make a difference in the world.
