The nephron is the basic functional unit of the kidney. It is a tube-like structure that comprises the renal corpuscle and the tubule. Our bodies need nephrons in the excretory system for waste excretion, blood regulation, PH maintenance, etc.
Turning waste from the blood into urine is a lengthy process that starts at the Bowman’s capsule and ends at the collecting duct. It then travels to the renal pelvis, ureter, then the bladder. This process breaks down as filtration, reabsorption, secretion, and excretion.
