Reflection | Silliman University Motto

Silliman University’s motto, “Via, Veritas, Vita,” is a powerful reflection of the institution’s dedication to academic excellence and spiritual growth. This Latin phrase, drawn from John 14:6, encapsulates the core principles of Christian theology, where Jesus is acknowledged as “the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” The motto is a guiding light for students and the entire Silliman community, reminding us of the intertwined journey of knowledge, truth, and a purposeful life.

“Via,” or “The Way,” represents the individual’s path to personal growth. It symbolizes self-discovery and the quest for direction in life. At Silliman, this path is not limited to academic excellence but extends to character development, personal growth, and community involvement.
