Animal cells are the structural and functional building blocks of all animal tissues and organs. Eukaryotic cells are what they are. It means that, in contrast to prokaryotic cells, animal cells have membrane-bound organelles suspended in the cytoplasm and surrounded by a plasma membrane.

A cell is responsible for all of the body’s processes, including the production and storage of energy, the production of proteins, which are molecules that play roles in metabolism, the transportation of other molecules, and the replication of DNA.
