Connective tissue is the tissue that connects or divides all of the other tissues in the body and supports them. It, like all tissues, is made up of cells surrounded by a fluid compartment called the extracellular matrix (ECM). -

Below are the 10 Histology Illustrations of body tissues I created using Canva. View it on full screen!-
1. Smooth Muscle Tissue – All over the body, smooth muscle serves a multitude of purposes. It aids digestion and nutrient absorption in the stomach and intestines. Urinary tract toxins are flushed out and electrolyte balance is maintained by the presence of this enzyme.
-
2. Skeletal Muscle – A person’s body has the greatest number of skeletal muscles than any other type. They are essential to everyday tasks because you use them to move your bones.
-
3. Cardiac Muscle – Cardiac muscle tissue creates the heart’s surrounding muscle. Muscles that pump blood are involuntary, unlike skeletal muscles, which can be voluntarily activated to keep a person’s body functioning.
-
4. Multipolar Neuron
-
5. Hyaline Cartilage – cushion the ends of the bones and reduce friction between them.
-
6. Collagenous Connective Tissue – Tensile and compressive strength are two characteristics of collagen fibres, which are both flexible but also extremely resistant to elongation. When the body moves, these fibres keep connective tissues in place.
-
7. Elastic Cartilage – provides strength, and elasticity, and maintains the shape of certain structures such as the external ear.
-
8. Fibrocartilage
-
9. Transitional Epithelium -This tissue serves as a highly effective permeability barrier, impermeable to water and the majority of tiny molecules.
-
10. Areolar Connective Tissue – Areolar connective tissue is the connective that is surrounding the tissues of many organs in the human body. An important purpose of this type of tissue is to nourish the cells and protect the organs from various external stimuli.
