Simple Epithelium are epithelial tissues with only one layer of cells. These cells are in direct contact with the basement membrane. They function in absorption of nutrients, secretion, filtration processes and diffusion. The three main simple epithelial cells are Simple Squamous, Simple Cuboidal and Simple Columnar.
