Cells in muscle tissue have the unique capacity to contract and elongate, allowing for movement. Skeletal muscle, smooth muscle, and cardiac muscle are all types of muscle tissue that make up the human body’s muscle mass.

Cellular, multinucleated and voluntary muscle fibers provide the basis of the structure of the human body’s skeletal muscle.

As the name suggests, smooth muscle cells are spindle-shaped and lack striations in their nucleus.

Branching fibers, a single nucleus per cell, striations, and intercalated disks are all features of cardiac muscle.
