Histology Art (MT 30 – I) 4 years, 6 months ago These tissues are composed of cells with having the property of contractility. Muscle tissues allow movement and have three types of tissues. These are the Cardiac muscle tissue, Skeletal muscle tissue, and Smooth muscle tissue. The illustration attached below shows the three types of Muscle Tissues. Cardiac Muscle has the property of contraction in a vigorous, rhythmic, and involuntary manner. This type of muscle tissue has striations and intercalated discs which makes this unique among the three. -
Smooth Muscle is composed of fusiform cells and lacks striations. It has the property of slow and involuntary contractions. -
Skeletal Muscle like the Cardiac muscle has striations. However, it is multinucleated with a contraction of a quick, forceful, and voluntary manner.
