Muscle tissue is made up of cells with the unique capacity to shorten or expand to cause bodily components to move. The cardiac, smooth, and skeletal muscle tissues are the three types of muscle tissue. Cardiac muscle cells are found in the heart’s walls, have a striped appearance, and are controlled involuntarily. Smooth muscle fibers, with the exception of the heart, are found in the walls of hollow visceral organs, are spindle-shaped, and are controlled involuntarily. Muscle fibers that are connected to the skeleton are known as skeletal muscle fibers. They have a striated appearance and are controlled by the user.
