Histology Art (MT 30 – J) 4 years, 3 months ago The nerve tissue, also known as nervous tissue, is the major component of our nervous system. It keeps track of and regulates the body’s functions. Nervous tissue is made up of two types of cells: nerve cells, commonly known as neurons, and glial cells, which aid in the transmission of nerve impulses as well as providing nutrition to neurons. Nervous tissue makes up the brain, spinal cord, and nerves, which are specialized for being stimulated to carry stimuli from one part of the body to another quickly.
Nervous tissue can be found in peripheral nerves throughout the body as well as central nervous system components such as the spinal cord and brain. Nerve cells, often known as neurons, make up nervous tissue. Neurons are specialized cells that respond to stimuli by sending out signals via axons, which are elongated projections that emerge from the cell body.
