Histology Art (MT 30 – J) 3 years, 9 months ago Nervous tissue is responsible for coordinating and controlling many body activities. It stimulates muscle contraction, creates an awareness of the environment, and plays a major role in emotions, memory, and reasoning. The nerve cells that generate and conduct impulses are called neurons or nerve cells. In the illustration below, we can see the unique characteristics of three different nervous tissues which helps us get through life everyday.
