Histology Art (MT 30 – I) 4 years, 5 months ago The Circulatory System or also known as the Cardiovascular system is primarily composed of the heart and blood vessels. This system functions to deliver oxygen and other nutrients to and from the parts of the body. Also, its role is to remove waste products and carbon dioxide. The heart, blood, and blood vessels work together to distribute and be of service to the cells in the body.In the Circulatory System, we have the Heart, Arteries, Veins, and Capillaries. The heart is the organ that pumps blood all throughout the body through networks of blood vessels. The arteries are the ones that take away blood from the heart, while the veins are the ones responsible for carrying blood towards the heart. Lastly, the capillaries are the tiny blood vessels that function between the circulatory system and organs/tissues in the exchange of nutrients, oxygen, and wastes.
Furthermore, the human body consists of two blood circulatory systems. These are Systemic and Pulmonary circulation. Systemic Circulation is the process wherein in order to get oxygen and other significant substances needed, this provides blood in the tissues, organs, and cells. On the other hand, Pulmonary Circulation happens when we breathe the fresh oxygen, which then enters the blood, and from the blood carbon dioxide is also released.
