Histology Art (MT 30 – I) 2022 4 years, 1 month ago Histology Art for Urinary System Body Tissues using CanvaThe urinary system, also known as the renal system, produces, stores and eliminates urine, the fluid waste excreted by the kidneys.
The kidneys remove wastes and excess water from the blood to produce urine. Urine passes from the kidneys to the bladder via two narrow tubes called ureters. To discharge waste when the bladder is full, a person urinates through the urethra.

KIDNEYS – are the organs that filter the blood, remove the wastes, and excrete the wastes in the urine. Each kidney is held in place by connective tissue, called renal fascia, and is surrounded by a thick layer of adipose tissue, called perirenal fat, which helps to protect it. A tough, fibrous, connective tissue renal capsule closely envelopes each kidney and provides support for the soft tissue that is inside. -
BLADDER – The urinary bladder is a muscular sac that stores urine, allowing urination to be infrequent and voluntary. It is lined by transitional epithelium (urothelium), and has a thick layer of smooth muscle. -
URETER – The ureters are fibromuscular tubes that transport urine by peristalsis from the kidney to the bladder. Like the bladder, it is lined by transitional epithelium (urothelium). -
