This illustration shows examples of tissue found in the urinary system. Simple Cuboidal Epithelium is found in collecting ducts and proximal and distal convoluted tubules of nephrons. These cells perform selective secretion and reabsorption in the production of urine. A transitional epithelium is made up of several layers of cells that become flattened when stretched. It lines most of your urinary tract and allows your bladder to expand as well as provides protection to the underlying tissues from acidic or alkaline urine. Another tissue found in the urinary system is the smooth muscle located in the walls of the urinary bladder which is responsible in contracting to expel urine from the bladder.Sources:
