The Philippines has been long understaffed with its healthcare system collapsing with underpaid but overworked medical workers. During the brink of the pandemic it has shown how the healthcare system of the country is not prioritized by the government, with medical workers not being compensated properly and lack of equipment in public hospitals and an expensive cost of quality healthcare. It is visible how the Philippines has been lacking in the healthcare sector. Underprivileged Filipinos often choose not to get proper treatment for certain diseases because of the expensiveness in getting proper diagnosis that they opt in having self-treatment. The Philippine Health System may be broken but it is definitely fixable with proper attention in fixing the system of the country’s healthcare, it will be able to provide accessible healthcare to all and promote healthy life choices to everyone so they may not endanger themselves with self-treatment.
