People here in the Philippines received healthcare through the efforts of the private and public hospitals in the country governed by the Department of Health. The government provides health care services through a network of public hospitals and health centers, which offer primary, secondary, and tertiary care. There are also insurance coverage within hospitals where PhilHealth covers public hospitals while private insurance companies covers private hospitals. Although the government makes efforts on continually improving their services, they aren’t on par with most of the private hospitals in the country. Government-funded hospitals are severely underfunded especially ones from small cities to small barrios. Also, lots of healthcare workers opt to go abroad instead due to better work opportunities and larger salaries.
