Healthcare in The Philippines (Insurance, Prices, Hospitals)

    • The Philippine health system is divided into the public sector and private sector. The public sector is administered by a government-owned corporation named PhilHealth and locals and expats are to register in the said corporation. The sector is responsible for providing universal health services to all citizens under PhilHealth, but public hospitals are understaffed, lack up-to-date equipment, and are using old facilities. On the other hand, the private sector provides access to specialized treatments, modern facilities, international standard and top-notch doctors, and well-equipped hospitals. Hospitals that are from the private healthcare sector are found mostly on major cities in the Philippines. To locals, hospital bills from these facilities are expensive (which I totally agree with), but are relatively cheap to expat standards. The Philippine health system provides health insurances such as PhilHealth, Cigna Insurance Plan, Geo Blue, AXA Global Healthcare, Allianz Care, and MediCard, to name a few.
