However, when I think about the current state of primary health care in the Philippines, I realize that it does not fully meet the WHO’s definition. Many Filipinos, especially those who live in rural areas, face challenges accessing high-quality healthcare services due to a shortage of healthcare workers and inadequate facilities. This leads to limited availability of services for most Filipinos, and even when services are available, many people struggle to access them due to financial problems. As a result, some people resort to self-medication or herbal remedies, which can be dangerous. This is a serious problem that requires urgent attention. It is crucial that we all recognize the critical role of primary health care in achieving better healthcare in the Philippines. In my opinion, the country should prioritize creating a more inclusive healthcare system that provides quality services to everyone, regardless of their socio-economic status. Everyone deserves access to quality healthcare services, and we must ensure that they can receive them.
