In my volleyball spike, the biceps brachii flexes the arm through the coordinated contraction of its striated fibers. Because these fibers are multinucleated, they efficiently manage the high energy output required for such a high-velocity hit. Ultimately, these microscopic structures translate cellular energy into the speed and precision of the strike.
