Hematology Section
Complete Blood Count
CBC is a test that determines a patient’s overall health. The results from a CBC test, like the abnormal increase or decrease of the cell, will be used to determine the medical condition of the patient with the help of a physician.
This will be done by taking a blood sample from the patient’s arm.
Clinical Microscopy Section
Urinalysis
Urinalysis is a test used to determine illnesses and disorders that will be shown in the urine sample.
Methods of Urinalysis examination available in the laboratory:
Microscopic Exam – MTs look at drops of urine under a microscope
Dipstick Test – MTs insert a chemically treated stick into the sample and evaluate the changing of color of the stick based on the substances present on the urine
Visual Exam – MTs look at the appearance of the urine like how cloudy they are or what color they appear to look like in the naked eye.
Fecalysis
A Fecalysis is a lab test to find organisms in the stool that can pose danger to the gastrointestinal organs.
Types of Fecalysis tests:
Direct Fecal Smear – These are done by collecting a small amount of fecal material to detect signs of abnormal bacteria or motile protozoans
Fecal Occult Blood Test – This is done to check if stool contains blood that is not visible to the naked eye. Presence of blood from the fecal sample can mean that the patient has symptoms of conditions, like colon cancer.
