An information system could be anything that contributes to making data easier to create, share, modify, store, and organize. One ubiquitous example would be social media wherein people can broadcast whatever is happening in their lives with just a few button presses. There are many more out there and some can even have specialized functions. SOUL is another form of an information system built mainly for academic purposes for the students, professors, and faculty of Silliman University.

Information system is a collection of interrelated components that gather, retrieve, process, store, and distribute data to support the decision-making and control of an organization. In my opinion, the term “Information System” refers to the system and/or process used by us, end-users, to obtain, store, and process data, as well as how we disseminate such data to other trusted establishments and networks. In today’s modern world, we might see these systems in large corporations or hospitals where there is a clear need to transfer data from one management system to another.
