The Addiction of Finding Love

Love addiction can be understood through the lens of neurobiology. When someone falls in love, the brain’s reward system is activated, releasing neurotransmitters such as dopamine, which is associated with pleasure and reward. Oxytocin, often called the “love hormone,” is released during physical touch and bonding activities, promoting feelings of attachment and trust. Serotonin levels can fluctuate, sometimes leading to obsessive thoughts about the loved one. These chemical changes can create a powerful, addictive feeling, similar to the effects of certain drugs.

Onomania (Shopping Addiction) | TAN

Onomania, commonly known as shopping addiction, goes beyond the occasional splurge—it’s a compulsive behavior where the urge to shop becomes uncontrollable. People affected by onomania often use shopping as an emotional escape, seeking temporary relief from stress or negative feelings. However, this relief is short-lived, and the cycle can lead to financial strain, guilt, and strained relationships. Understanding the emotional and psychological roots of this addiction is key to breaking free and regaining control over one’s life.
