About:
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a HIV is a lifelong condition with no cure available currently. However, antiretroviral therapy helps manage HIV and those infected may live with the virus for a longer time. HIV can further develop to a more severe condition called AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome).
Moreover, HIV/AIDS is also an emerging disease throughout the world but many still refuse to get tested or even receive proper treatment. This may be because of the lack of knowledge about HIV/AIDS, as well as the discrimination and shame that is come along with it.
With that in mind, Project HAAC (HIV and AIDS Awareness Campaign) is a local, nonprofit organization that advocates for HIV and AIDS awareness and end the stigma that around it.
Vision:
To be the premier local organization that promotes awareness and raise social consciousness regarding HIV and AIDS in order to eliminate the stigma associated with the disease.
Mission:
• To encourage early testing for HIV/AIDS for individuals to know their status and prevent further spread of the infection
• To educate and deepen people’s knowledge about the disease
• To eliminate discrimination and shame for people living with HIV/AIDS
• To increase availability of HIV/AIDS support groups or systems
• To enhance a person with HIV/AIDS’ quality of life
