Animal cells are the primary unit of life in all Animalia species. They are eukaryotic cells, which means they have a nucleus and specialized components known as organelles that perform various jobs. Plant-specific organelles such as cell walls, which sustain the plant cell, and chloroplasts, which carry out photosynthesis, are not found in animal cells.
