Areolar connective tissue holds organs in place and attaches epithelial tissue to other underlying tissues. It also serves as a reservoir of water and salts for surrounding tissues. Almost all cells obtain their nutrients from and release their wastes into areolar connective tissue. -

Transitional epithelium is an epithelial tissue which in a relaxed state appears as a stratified cuboidal epithelium. The cells in the transitional epithelium are pear-shaped or round, but as tissue is stretched, cells become flattened, giving the appearance of stratified squamous epithelium

Hyaline, or articular, cartilage covers the ends of bones to create a low-friction environment and cushion at the joint surface. When cartilage in the joint is healthy, it effectively allows fluid bending/straightening motions and protects the joint against weight-bearing stresses. -

It exists throughout the urinary system, where it functions to help rid the body of toxins and works in electrolyte balance.
