Adopting Silliman University’s motto, Via, Veritas, Vita or The Way, the Truth, the Life feels like I’m navigating a personal journey, especially as a current student in the Institute of Clinical Laboratory Sciences (ICLS):
“The Way” serves as my guide through academic and self-discovery within the vibrant Silliman community.
In understanding “The Truth” at ICLS, it’s not just about memorizing facts; it’s delving into the deeper truths behind the sciences and following ethical guidelines like those in the Board of Medical Technology Code of Ethics. It instills in me a sense of responsibility to critically analyze and uphold honesty in my future work.
“The Life” aspect adds vitality to my Silliman experience beyond academic survival. It involves enjoying student life, appreciating diverse cultures represented by the 5 C’s, and contributing to the community and environment, aligning with the university’s mission. As a Sillimanian in ICLS, it’s not just about personal fulfillment; it’s also about giving back to the community.
In essence, “The Way, the Truth, the Life” isn’t just a motto; it’s a personal compass shaping my academic pursuits, ethical considerations, and contributions to the community. It defines Silliman as more than a school; it’s a space where I navigate my path, seek truths, and live a purposeful life.
