Histology Art (MT 30 – J) 4 years agoThe urinary system, also known as the renal system, produces, stores and eliminates urine, the fluid waste excreted by the kidneys. The kidneys make urine by filtering wastes and extra water from blood. Urine travels from the kidneys through two thin tubes called ureters and fills the bladder. When the bladder is full, a person urinates through… -

Histology Art (MT 30 – J) 4 years agoSimple cuboidal epithelium lines the lumina of convoluted tubules of the kidney. The polarity of the cells allows for differing surface proteins on the basal lateral surface (which is in contact with the basal lamina and underlying tissues) and the apical surface (which lines the lumen where the particles are). The simple cuboidal cells benefit… -

Histology Art (MT 30 – J) 4 years agoThe function of your urinary system is to filter blood and produce urine as waste by-product. The kidneys, renal pelvis, ureters, bladder, and urethra are all organs of the urinary system. -

Histology Art (MT 30 – J) 4 years agoThe kidneys, ureters, and bladder are organs of the urinary system, which act to remove body wastes, manage blood volume and blood pressure, regulate levels of electrolytes and metabolites, and maintain blood pH. -

Histology Art (MT 30 – J) 4 years agoThe urinary system functions as a filter, eliminating toxins and wastes from the body via urine. This waste is transported through a system of tubes and ducts. These…-
The inner lining of the urinary bladder is a mucous membrane of transitional epithelium that is continuous with that in the ureters. When the bladder is empty, the mucosa has numerous folds called rugae. The rugae and transitional epithelium allow the bladder to expand as it fills.

Each kidney is held in place by connective tissue, called renal fascia, and is surrounded by a thick layer of adipose tissue, called perirenal fat, which helps to protect it. A tough, fibrous, connective tissue renal capsule closely envelopes each kidney and provides support for the soft tissue that is inside.
-
The ureter is lined by urothelium, a type of transitional epithelium that is capable of responding to stretches in the ureters. The transitional epithelium may appear as a layer of column-shaped cells when relaxed, and of flatter cells when distended. Below the epithelium sits the lamina propria.

Histology Art (MT 30 – J) 4 years agoKidneys, ureters, the urinary bladder, and the urethra constitute the urinary system. Urine production, storage, and expulsion are its primary functions.-
Kidneys serve multiple purposes:
• Excretion – the discharge of water -soluble metabolic waste products and foreign compounds as urine
• Regulation – maintain an appropriate fluid volume and electrolyte concentrations in body fluids, normal blood pressure, and blood pH.
• Endocrine – hormone secretion
• Regulation of blood pressure by Renin

Ureter
The ureters are fibromuscular tubes that transport urine from the kidney to the bladder via peristalsis. As with the urinary bladder, it is lined with transitional epithelium (urothelium).
-
Urinary Bladder
The urinary bladder is a muscular sac that stores urine, enabling infrequent and voluntary urination. It has a thick layer of smooth muscle and is lined by transitional epithelium (urothelium)..
