Larynx is located in the anterior part of the throat and extends from the base of the tongue to the trachea. It is the passageway for air between the pharynx and trachea.

The mucous membrane lining the trachea consists of pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium with numerous goblet cells. The goblet cells produce mucus, which traps inhaled foreign particles. The cilia move mucus and foreign particles into the larynx, from which they enter the pharynx and are swallowed.

Bronchioles
The bronchi continue to branch, finally gibing rise to bronchioles. The bronchioles also subdivide several times to become even smaller terminal bronchioles. Terminal bronchioles divide to form respiratory bronchioles which have a few attached alveoli.
