The digestive system is composed of the gastrointestinal tract—commonly referred to as the GI tract or digestive tract—as well as the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. The gastrointestinal system is made up of a succession of hollow organs connected by a long, twisting tube that runs from the mouth to the anus. The mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and anus are the hollow organs that comprise the GI tract. The liver, pancreas, and gallbladder are the digestive system’s solid organs (NIDDK, 2019).

HARD PALATE
The hard palate is the roof of the oral cavity and separates this site from the nasal cavity. It extends posteriorly and medially from the maxillary alveolar…-
The hard palate provides space for the tongue to move freely and supplies a rigid floor to the nasal cavity so that pressures within the mouth do not close off the nasal passage. In many lower vertebrates, the hard palate bears teeth.

Features of the Hard Palate:
– Mucosa (or mucous membrane) – stratified squamous non-keratinizing epithelium
– Rugae – large ridges that project into the oral cavity… -

The appendix is a small, 2- to 4-inch pouch located near where the large and small intestines meet. Researchers deduce that the appendix is designed to protect good bacteria in the gut. That way, when the gut is affected by a bout of diarrhea or other illness that cleans out the intestines, the good bacteria in the appendix can repopulate the… -

Pancreas-
The pancreas is the main enzyme-producing accessory gland of the digestive system.
-
The endocrine part of the pancreas, consists of isolated islands of lighter staining cells called islets of Langerhans. The secretions of the acini empty into ducts lined with a simple low cuboidal epithelium, which becomes stratified cuboidal in the larger ducts.

The tissue below is the ileum – the final and longest segment of the small intestine. It is specifically responsible for the absorption of vitamin B12 and the reabsorption of conjugated bile salts. The ileum is about 3.5 metres (11.5 feet) long (or about three-fifths the length of the small intestine) and extends from the jejunum (the middle… -
