How to study better

It’s the start of the second semester and I guess that some of you would say that studying is hard work but for other people they actually do love it. So here are some tips to help you out for the coming semester.

1. Write notes or summarize books by writing. The more senses you use in studying, the more information you can retain. In this case, you use your sense of touch and sight which would allow your mind to retain information better.

2.Find your study time. Each individual has his own favorite place and time for productive study. Some study better in quiet environments, some watch TV, other people study in coffee shops. Find what works for you.

3. Use Parkinson’s Law. Parkinson’s law states that if you have a certain amount of time to complete something, that’s how long it will generally take. So if you give yourself more time than you need to do something, you will waste the extra time available to you but if you give yourself less time to do something, you would still manage to get it done at that limited time. That explains why some people who study in a short amount of time can still pass exams because they were able to appropriately apply Parkinson’s law. Of course, we must always consider that what may work for one person may not work for another.

4.Give yourself a day for every subject to study.

5.Get some sleep.

6.Take breaks, study in bursts.

Have a productive semester
