How to perform well in Histology
1. First, try to see the architecture of the cell. Is it circular, flat or irregular?
2. Second, identify the lining epithelium. Is it squamous, columnar or cuboidal?
3. Are the nuclei of the cells large or small? Take note of the colors of the nuclei and cytoplasm.
4. Maximize the use of the laboratory slides and compare what you have seen under the microscope with images from histology books. Images from these books have much superior pictures that are not found on routine slides.
5. Try to develop your photographic memory. You really need it in histology. I know you guys have good photographic memories 🙂
6. Most of all devote time for study. I guess you know that time is the only resource that can never be restored once it is gone.
All the best!

How to study better
It’s the start of the second semester and I guess that some of you would say that studying is hard work but for other people they actually do love it. So here are some tips to help you out for the coming semester.
1. Write notes or summarize books by writing. The more senses you use in studying, the more information you can retain. In this case, you use your sense of touch and sight which would allow your mind to retain information better.
2.Find your study time. Each individual has his own favorite place and time for productive study. Some study better in quiet environments, some watch TV, other people study in coffee shops. Find what works for you.
3. Use Parkinson’s Law. Parkinson’s law states that if you have a certain amount of time to complete something, that’s how long it will generally take. So if you give yourself more time than you need to do something, you will waste the extra time available to you but if you give yourself less time to do something, you would still manage to get it done at that limited time. That explains why some people who study in a short amount of time can still pass exams because they were able to appropriately apply Parkinson’s law. Of course, we must always consider that what may work for one person may not work for another.
4.Give yourself a day for every subject to study.
5.Get some sleep.
6.Take breaks, study in bursts.
Have a productive semester
Welcome to Medical Histology

The picture shown represents one of the key activities that you are going to do for the Medical Histology Course. Medical Histology covers all of the body’s systems and because they not only focus on microscopic structure, but also on structure-function relationships at the cell and tissue levels, other fundamental subjects like anatomy, physiology and biochemistry must be thoroughly reviewed in order to fully comprehend the topics that would be discussed in this course.
From time to time, we may upload medical histology pictures in this site and you may provide descriptions of what you have seen. You can comment your descriptions on the photos or illustrations presented. By providing your descriptions of histological pictures, you would be practicing a vital skill needed as a healthcare provider and as a future scientist, the skill to thoroughly observe and provide an accurate description of what you have seen under the microscope.
May you learn more from the articles and illustrations presented in our platform.
How to know you are in the right direction in your life?
There are threee things to know
1.Passion – you would know you are going in the right direction if you love what you do. Without love, you cannot have passion.
2. Commitment – being committed means waking up each day excited to accomplish something more in your life. Commitment is being there to serve people. It is making sure that you have given value to at least one person every day.
3. Make it an adventure – build your adventure and experience life to the fullest. What is the average lifespan of man? 60, 70 years? If you think about it, you only have a short amount of time to create something worthwhile. Make sure you accomplish something that brings value to the world.
Go ahead and make sure to make new adventures while helping people along the way.
