LIS – ASSIGNMENT

It’s basically like HIS but it’s for the Laboratory to keep records of specimens and chemicals instead of patients and diseases which is very helpful towards Medical Technologists and Pathologists.   As a “turn-key” solution, the Laboratory Information System (LIS) was created. An interactive minicomputer is used for the primary functions, giving the laboratory total control over everyday processing. A network of microcomputers and microprocessors is used to collect the results from automated analyzers. (Forest JC, et al.)   For clinical and anatomic pathology laboratories, a LIS is a software system that… Read More

MT14 ASSIGNMENT

1. What is Laboratory Information System (LIS)?   A laboratory Information System (LIS) is a computer software that maintains, processes, and stores data for laboratories to carry out orders and tests. Laboratory decision-makers utilize LIS systems to streamline their daily operations. According to WHO (2023), it facilitates patient treatment, public health planning, and policy decisions by increasing access to high-quality diagnostic tests and delivering accurate, timely information. It is widely acknowledged to be an effective tool for enhancing both internal laboratory data management and external data reporting. It keeps track of crucial… Read More

Laboratory Information System

A Laboratory Information System (LIS), also referred to as Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), is a component of a Health Information System or a type of information technology. In essence, it is a computer software system designed to collect, process, store, and manage pertinent data to the functions and operations of a clinical laboratory. Such data include test orders or requests, patient information or record, laboratory results, staff information, financial or accounting records, inventory of materials and equipment, and the like. This kind of system serves as an all-in-one platform where most,… Read More

LIS [ASSIGNMENT-PABUTOY]

Q1: What is LIS? A: According to R. McCudden et al. (2020),  the core of managing clinical laboratory information is the Laboratory Information System (LIS), which encompasses software, operating systems, and hardware tailored to the specific needs of a laboratory. The configuration of the LIS can be highly customized to support the operational processes of the laboratory. They added that the LIS plays a crucial role in every stage of laboratory testing, facilitating the flow of information to and from the system throughout the process of coming up with a result.  … Read More

Laboratory Information System

Laboratory Information Systems and their uses: Laboratory Information System (LIS) manages the day-to-day workflow and activities of a clinical laboratory including asset tracking, status monitoring, task segmentation and distribution, and is fundamental to the operation of a laboratory. Laboratory Information Systems are unique and specialized to each laboratory as they are made depending on the requirements of the staff, users, and the laboratory itself (Sinard J. et. al., 2015). Artificial Intelligence and its Implications: Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the replication or simulation of human intelligence by computer systems or machines. For… Read More

Implications of AI on my job as well as jobs in general.

Well considering that AI has many uses, it could be useful in categorizing many things, as well as processing thing to make it faster and more efficient, so we can help the flow of work to be much more faster and accurate. This is same for many other workplaces, where it could automate many situations that require a lot of precision and calculations, thus giving the human workers more time to focus on the more specific tasks that can only be done by humans. In the years and decades to come, artificial… Read More

🔬 Laboratory Information Systems

Margarita S. Resuelo MT 14 – CC  What is LIS? The vital system that is designed to oversee the operations of the laboratory, most especially pertaining to the management, storage, and processing of patient data, is attributed to a Laboratory Information System (LIS) (Orchard Software, 2023). As a healthcare software, LIS involves the integration of computers and information technology to interactively manipulate and completely coordinate all work processes in different sections of the clinical laboratory in a structured, organized manner. It contributes to better patient care and boosts efficiency in the workplace… Read More

IOS (Closed source software) VS Android (Open source software)

Looking at the two, I’d say Android is a better option because it offers flexibility — allowing users to freely modify the system; it’s more transparent; and it has wider developer support as more users use it because it’s more cost-effective (Mcdonald, 2011). However, I don’t think I’ll get to use the advantages it offers because I’m not good at handling computers and the technicals associated with it. It takes a lot of time to learn about it and I don’t think I have the time to invest in learning those things…. Read More
